Belgium: MP's home tagged as resistance against maximum security prison project continues
Brussels, 17.05.15: The private residence of Rudi Vervoort, the MP for the Brussels region, was tagged with the inscription "No Prison In Haren." A mixture containing manure and tar was also poured on his doorstep. The home of one of Vervoort's colleagues was also tagged as was the former director of the prison in Forest and the former head of the maxi-prison project in Haren. Not long after the attack on her home, the former head of the Haren maxi-prison project decided to resign from her position.
Since the start of the Belgium government's prison reform program began there have been attacks against all of the actors in the plan: political, administrative, construction, architects etc. In the most recent attack prior to the latest ones an incendiary device was left outside the home of the architect whose office signed the plans for the Haren maxi-prison project in February.
You can read more about the struggle against the Haren maxi-prison project here and here.

Antwerp, Belgium: Fire destroys the offices of prison profiteers Fabricom
Antwerp, 31.03.15: After midnight, a fire broke out in the grounds of the company Fabricom (GDF Suez) in Hoboken. The fire destroyed more than 24 containers, used as offices by the company. The fire was particularly violent because of strong winds, firefighters struggled to extinguish it.
Fabricom is a company that is heavily involved in the management of existing prisons, as well as in the construction of new ones. It installs and maintains electricity installations, video surveillance, heating etc. Fabricom also installed the police CCTV network in different areas of Brussels. So the fact that these structures get ravaged by nocturnal fires can only be good news.

Belgium: Incendiary attack against Vilvoorde police station
On the 5th of May the police station at Vilvoorde was set on fire. A person or persons unknown climbed over a fence and entered an interrogation room via a skylight where a fire was lit with combustion accelerators. The fire had already extinguished itself by the time police attended, however damage had been caused to the door and window by flames and smoke. According to mainstream Belgium press reports the police and other authorities are clueless as to who may have been responsible for the attack.
