Spain: Comrades arrested in Barcelona and Manresa with accusations of 'terrorism'

From 6AM the Gossos* d'Esquadra (Catalan regional police) under orders from the Audiencia Nacional (National Court) raided private homes of anarchists and social spaces in Barcelona (Gracia, Sants and Sant Andreu neighborhood) and  Manresa. According to corporate media poisoning the mass arrests are a continuation of Operation Pandora against what the police and the judges believe are the GAC (Coordinated Anarchist Groups) whom they accuse of being responsible for the attacks claimed by anarchist groups during the years 2012 and 2013. (It should be recalled that last year the State Attorney General stated that 'anarcho-terrorists' no longer have the capacity to attack.)

According to the media, there 9 or 10 detainees, and many others arrested including from the Ateneo Libertario de Sants.

Spain: New phase of Operation Pandora repressions - 9 comrades detained

28.10.15: A police operation began at 7AM this morning raiding several homes and properties in the neighborhoods of Sants, Gràcia, Clot and Sant Andreu de Palomar in the city of Barcelona and Manresa. The police action was ordered by the Audiencia Nacional (National Court) and is a continuation of Operation Pandora, which led to the arrest of ten comrades and the preventative imprisonment of seven of them last December. Among the properties searched were Revoltosa social center on Rogent street in the Clot neighborhood and the l'Ateneu Llibertari de Sants on Maria Victoria street where ten police vans were in attendance. When the news was leaked, dozens of people demonstrated in solidarity and took to the streets of Sants marching behind a banner in support of the detainees. Minutes later as the demonstration reached Masnou street two vans of riot police arrived and proceeded to violently suppress the demonstration.

Searches also took place at a house on Perill street in the neighborhood of Gracia, a house in the neighborhood of Santos and other private homes in Sant Andreu de Palomar. Police made a total of 9 arrests. At every place police raided they encircled the whole street and impeded the free movement of the neighborhood. In details leaked to the press by the police they revealed that the operation led to the arrest of 9 people for the alleged crime of "belonging to a criminal organization with terrorist aims."

In response to the raid a call has gone out for demonstrations at 8:00PM at la Plaça del Diamant de la Vila de Gràcia.

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia: Police raid anarchist space Rumah Api

On 28th August (Friday), over a dozen police with automatic weapons and K-9 unit attacked Rumah Api (social center/house project in Kuala Lumpur) during a concert on that night. The police raided the house project and raid everybody during the concert and also trashed the living space of people who live there without any warrant or solid reason for the raid.

We all believe the raid were conducted due to the connection of Bersih 4 Rally which happen on the next days (29 and 30th) which is totally insane since the organizer of the concert, participants, and Rumah Api have little interest to join or even support the rally, due to our political stance on the issue of election and voting system.

The state use Rumah Api as the scapegoat of recent event of attack on banks and multinational corporations in KL for the past 2 years. So far, they found nothing to link us with that events. The police seize all the musical equipment at the concert hall, seize 2 computers of people who live there, one smart phone, artwork, and books belonging to people who live there. The police said they search the building for any weapons or explosives that can link us to terrorism.

All 160 people who got arrested were remanded for 3 days. Among the arrestees, there are comrades from United States, Germany, Spain, Phillipines and Indonesia who attended the concert. According to the detainees, during the interrogation, the police ask about their participation with Rumah Api and what knowledge they had about Rumah Api and terrorism. They were given very little food or water and there are issues of mistreating the detainees, especially womyn detainees.

The police released all of the detainees on 31st August except two comrades, one from Manila and one from Bandung. The police mention that they still under detention due to the process of checking their status in Malaysia and because both comrades have records for entering this country without legal permit.

At the moment, they still held the computers and a smartphone until further notice to help their investigation. 2 comrades are now facing court charges of Section 143 of the Penal Code, Section (4)(1)(b) of the Sedition Act and Section 6 of the Selangor Entertainment and Places of Entertainment Enactment and are facing fines and prison sentence of 20 years.

We are asking for solidarity from all over the world to spread the news. This is a brutal tactic use by the state to clamp down on the movement. With current political and economic instability in this country, and also the uprising of the anti-government sentiments, they trying to put down any action or any lifestyle that doesn't go along with what they want.

On Rumah Api side, the gig that night titled is Party Tonight, Revolution Tomorrow is nothing more than just a normal Friday night gig with no intention to relate it with Bersih 4 rally. We at Rumah Api are critical of the popular struggle in Malaysia. Bersih 4 which is a demonstration for free and clean election is a so-called first world problem and it has a middle upper class agenda. Bersih 4 is being supported and joined by liberals and Islamists with their partisan politics that we are all against. We focus more on the grassroots level and are more interested to put our energy into strengthening our own and surrounding community. We see, by supporting Bersih 4 and it's agenda, we are on the wrong side of our struggle. In Malaysia, by changing the government, it will not make the problems goes away. Issues of xenophobia, homophobia, racism and religion are still the serious problems the politicians failed to address.

Now, people still gathering outside of Ampang Police Station to pressure them to release two of our comrades.

The words 'Australian police protect racists' and 'Antifa' were spray-painted on the embassy wall in solidarity with antifascist activists in Melbourne who came under vicious attack by police for counter-protesting a rally organized by fascist organizations Reclaim Australia and United Patriots Front. 

Czech Republic: Incendiary attack on a police car by Network of Revolutionary Cells

On Friday May 15 we torched a police car parked in front of the Hostivařská street police station in Prague. This was the result of an act of sabotage carried out by M.A.P. cell. We decided to transform our anger into direct attack and took action as part of the Network of Revolutionary Cells.

We had long been tormented by fear and indecision but then on April 28 came the breakthrough: police launched an attack against the anarchist movement in the country where we live and this finally facilitated our decision to take action. We believe that others will also make decisions of this type.

The torching of a police car is perhaps only a small step towards what needs to be done to put an end to capitalism but this step opens up new possibilities. Previously such a step was inaccessible to us as we were unable to go beyond the limits of protest - barking a lot but never biting our enemies. But now we have broken the shackles of bourgeois morality. For the state and capital we are now no longer the harmless snake oil salesman. We are becoming a threat because we have begun to destroy what is destroying us.

This is just the beginning, the struggle continues!

Canada: Jennifer Pawluck convicted for posting photo of anti-police graffiti online

A woman who posted a photo of graffiti depicting a senior Montreal police officer with a bullet in his head has received a suspended sentence. Jennifer Pawluck was found guilty in April of criminal harassment for snapping a photo of the street art and uploading it to Instagram in 2013.

The judge agreed with a joint suggestion that the 22-year-old Pawluck be given a suspended sentence, 18 months probation and 100 hours community service. She is forbidden from using Instagram, Facebook or Twitter for one year except to send private messages. Pawluck is also prohibited from posting anything about police or anyone associated with the judicial system.

Montreal police Cmdr. Ian Lafreniere, a high-profile spokesman, told the court that knowledge the graffiti was being shared shook him, scared his children and forced his wife to take a leave from work.

Belgium: Incendiary attack against Vilvoorde police station

On the 5th of May the police station at Vilvoorde was set on fire. A person or persons unknown climbed over a fence and entered an interrogation room via a skylight where a fire was lit with combustion accelerators. The fire had already extinguished itself by the time police attended, however damage had been caused to the door and window by flames and smoke. According to mainstream Belgium press reports the police and other authorities are clueless as to who may have been responsible for the attack.

Prague: Cibulka squat evicted (Czech Republic)

Today police evicted the only squatted place in Prague, Cibulka. In a massive raid 200 cops with water-cannon and even a helicopter arrested at least 12 people, at least 4 people were injured. There were around 50 people present in the place when the police came, most of them left the premises voluntarily. Four people occupied the roof but were forcibly removed. It is still unclear what exactly happened as police closed off the whole surrounding area. At least four people are in hospital now. At least 12 people are being held.

Cibulka was occupied by squatters two years ago. Soon they managed to sign an agreement with the owner, semi-public company Autoklub. For two years it was used legally, but that did not prevent police from raiding the place several times. Last month the contract was recalled by the owner. Yesterday evening the owner made a formal complain to police, today the place was evicted. It is an unprecedent speed of police work in the country where it is usual to wait 8 or more years for a court verdict and generally the justice system is very slow and ineffective…

International call for solidarity with the case of Nicolás Neira

“In order to describe heaven, it is not necessary to transport up there earthy materials. It is necessary to abandon earth, its materials, in order to embellish life with its ideal” –Isidore Ducasse.

With anger in our hearts and a deep sense of injustice is that we remember Nicolás David Neira Álvarez, a 15 year old young man, whose early affinity with anarchist ideas led him to be bludgeoned by the Colombian riot police (ESMAD) to the point that the constant banging of his head against the pavement damaged his brain matter. This happened during the heavy handed repression against the anarchist block during the May Day demonstrations in Bogotá, 2005. He would pass away on the 6 of March.

10 years later, we do not want to be viewed as victims, we do not forget and we shall not forgive. Today we face the same repression; peace-talk is no good when femicides are a regular staple, peace communities are persecuted, trans-gendered people are assassinated, when displaced people die hungry in the cold of the street, when death-squads threaten and attack mercilessly any expression of dissent, just as they did before. When military trucks are overloaded with youngsters from all over the country, taken away to uncertain destinations, and when our comrades in jail linger in overcrowded dungeons that the system calls prisons.

10 years later we are happy to state that we are members of an international community, which has not been segmented by the borders, by flags, not even by language. We have been one with Chile, Bolivia, Argentina, Iberia, the United States, Ecuador, Venezuela, Indonesia, Palestine, Kurdistan, Greece, Turkey, Italy, Australia, Byelorussia, Egypt, Mexico. Every time we have shown our solidarity, discussing in the open or privately problems of places that may be far away in the map but not from the heart, every time we have acted accordingly to our desire to destroy to rebuild, when we have supported not facts, but for ideas harbouring the passions of millions of people; for those brief moments, as brief as life itself is brief, we have been able to be the entire world, the entire galaxy.

For all this we want to invite you all, wherever you are, to carry any action which you think is suited to honour solidarity with Nico on this 6 of May. We know that you have anger and a deep sense of injustice as well, so we will be very happy to know of different activities, where the yell of “Long live Nico!” is heard of in different languages, and in different accents.
